Randolph’s Annual Truro Studio Exhibition

Opening Th, Aug. 12, 2010, 5-8pm

45 Depot Road, Truro, Massachusetts

Exhibit runs through September 6

FRANCIE RANDOLPH and her husband, artist Tom Watson, purchased their 18th-century property in 1998 and immediately set about planning to renovate the existing barn for use as studios. As the much-loved building was no longer salvageable, the couple instead built a new timber-frame, two-story barn in its place, incorporating the original structure’s architectural lines and pair of green double doors in addition to each artist’s desired studio features.

As time progressed, the number of collectors traveling to the Cape and requesting studio tours increased. The annual Studio Exhibition grew from this desire to see the artists’ latest works. Now each August, in coordination with their other galleries, Randolph and Watson mount a public exhibition and host a joint opening of recent artwork.

IN ADDITION TO the annual Studio Exhibition, the artists hold Open Studios every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-12pm. Visitors can preview the upcoming show, discuss specific works of art or commissions directly with the artists, and see the studios in operation. Additionally, guests often glimpse a view of the life that has organically developed around the studios as the couple has reclaimed what was once an historic farm – visitors may have an opportunity to see what’s currently in the gardens, watch a group of children collect fresh eggs, or observe a busy hive of honeybees in action.
